Twin Pregnancy - Week 32

Today is the start of week 32! We are getting closer to baby time! I can't believe we're almost there! I'm very very excited to start my new life as a mom. Also, as I've mentioned before, it's kinda a sad transition too. No longer will I be pregnant. I've been carrying these babies with me everywhere for the past 32 weeks, it's weird to think they won't be there anymore. And of course a big chunk of my freedom goes away when I have these children. I can't really be so spontaneous and easygoing. I have to think about my kids with every decision I make. Overall, I really am excited for them to come.

Our ulrasound today showed that BabyA is an estimated 3 lbs, 14 oz while BabyB measures 4 lbs, 12 oz. Their difference in size seems to be getting more significant. This is of some concern to our maternal fetal doctor. She says it might be a reason to deliver them sooner than later, but for now we will just monitor them closely. The ultrasounds also showed  that there is no further dilation/effacement of my cervix since the hospital, which is a relief.

From now on I need to go to the Maternal Fetal Medicine center twice a week. Once for an ultrasound to check the development of the babies, and a second time for something called a Non Stress Test (NST). I had to do NST twice a day at the hospital, so I know the drill. They strap me in a monitor to watch my uterus for contractions, and they put heart rate monitors on each of the babies. They look for any signs that the babies may be in distress, and the test usually lasts for 20 minutes. I'm happy that the babies are being looked after so closely! I definitely feel like we're all in good hands.

Holy cow, these baby kicks are getting strong. They used to be so cute but now they are a little uncomfortable! Both babies are in a heads down position, and their legs and feet are up near my ribs. Sometimes I wonder if they're trying to tell me they want to be out of there!

I was thinking these would be February babies for sure, but now I'm wondering if the doctors will want me to have these babies earlier because of their size gap. Oh my gosh we're getting close!!

A few shots from our ultrasound. That thing pressing against BabyA's cheek is BabyB's head! They're looking pretty cramped in there!
