Summer Time

It's not technically summer until the summer solstice, but in the Phoenix valley the temperatures are starting to climb! Soon it will be triple digit temperatures nearly every day. I gotta say, I really don't handle the summer heat very well. Each summer I vow to obtain a summer home in a cooler climate. I feel like a wilted flower after a couple minutes of being outside when it's over 100 degrees. And I hear the summer is even worse when pregnant!

I have a few ideas for surviving this summer. Like, I'm just not going to venture outside unless it's early in the morning or after dusk. I'll probably reduce my garden to whatever can grow in containers on the patio. And the most important thing, I'll be in our swimming pool every day I imagine.

As the spring garden season is closing, it's been time for harvesting! My three surviving tomato plants did pretty well. I have two early girl plants and one cherry. The kids love to help pick them! My pepper plants produced some lovely fruits as well, but I neglected to harvest them before they went bad on the plants or birds got them! I still have an onion bed to harvest in the next few weeks, as well as peaches from our peach tree. The strawberry bed is alive, but not doing super well. I'll keep tending it to see if I can get some strawberries! I've only gotten a handful so far.

I do have some goals to work on over the summer months:

1. Prep to give birth - I mean mostly physically and mentally too. I've been going to prenatial yoga class really consistently, and have been trying to keep active in general. I could probably do more squats and keagal exercises too. The main goal here is to be as strong as can be for delivery!

2. Prep for baby to come home! We need the nursery to be ready! This also includes getting rid of a bunch of old stuff from the twins that we can't really use with the new baby, like all the girl clothes.

3. Figure out how to have a manageable summer garden, maybe if it's just herbs.

4. Potty train the twins!

5. Etsy store - I want to get some new products out there, like 4th of July and Bridal designs!

6. Work - I'm doing awesome at work, and I need to train people to do some of the things I do while I'm out on maternity leave.

Summer is probably my least favorite season, but I know I will get through! I will just focus on my goals and be swimming all the time!
