Twin Pregnancy - Week 31
I was released from the hospital last Tuesday! It was new years eve and since I was put on bed rest, I obviously couldn't go out and party. Instead, my fantastic family brought the party to me! They came over with sparkling juice for me (the real stuff for them), snacks and our favorite game! It actually was a really fun new years eve.
I've been on bed rest for about a week now if you include the hospital time. The hospital totally sucked, I hope I never have to spend that much time there again, or at least not that much time hooked to an IV and practically chained to the bed. Home bed rest is much better. In fact, I get "modified bed rest" so I don't really have to be in bed all day, I can sit at the kitchen table and make myself simple foods and shower and all that jazz. I cannot go to into the office anymore, which is kinda both awesome and lame. Thank goodness I have a really awesome boss and workplace, because I've been allowed to work from home! This has been really great, I can at least feel somewhat productive even though I cannot leave the house, do chores, or work on the nursery.
I have no idea how long until I go into real labor and birth these kiddos. Could be a week, could be five or even six weeks. I don't feel like these babies will be born until February, but who knows. Ideally, it will be sometime after 34 or 35 weeks, and I'll get a normal, vaginal birth with minimal drugs and the babies will be developed enough to come home with us. That's the dream anyway.
In other news, I've been awakened to a baby expense that will be more expansive than diapers, food, clothing, and pretty much everything...health insurance. It's going to cost about $500 a month to add these babies to my heath insurance. That's a major chunk of change. I mean, that's like, almost as much as my mortgage! I'm seriously not happy about that huge monthly payment. My goal has been to keep monthly bills as low as possible, so that we can save money for investments and maybe a few luxuries here and there. This $500 bill puts a major kink in my style, and it appears unavoidable. John will check how much it would cost to put them on his insurance, but I don't expect it to be much better. This sucks!
A few days before I went into the hospital, Jessi took some more maternity shots!

The new benefits plans through brightcove should be better. I hope you've checked them. One of my immediate questions regarding all that was you. It sounded like good news.
ReplyDeleteYes! These benefits are SO much better when it comes to having your family on your insurance. I am much relieved :)
