Week 18 - Ultrasound Update
We had another ultrasound yesterday! This one was for
anatomy examination and Twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome risk evaluation. They took lots of measurements
of their brains, hearts, kidneys, stomachs, limbs, umbilical cord, amniotic
fluid levels. Everything is looking great! Baby A weighs 10 ounces and baby B weighs
a whopping 11 ounces! Baby B is actually
in the 95th percentile for her size at this gestation age! Big baby!
Both babies were moving A LOT during the exam. The poor technician could hardly
get all the measurements she wanted because they would not hold still.
I’m so happy to learn that all is going great with their development. I
don’t know if things could be any better in fact! (knocking on wood) Plus, I’m
looking good too. At this point, there is no shortening of my cervix or
anything, which can be a major issue with twins. A shortened cervix puts the
babies at risk for being born too early. I heard one horror story from the technician…
she recently saw a women pregnant with twins at 20 weeks, and her cervix was
completely open. They had to rush the poor women to the hospital. I imagine she
lost her babies, which is so sad. I’m very relieved that I’m looking perfectly
fine at this stage of pregnancy!
Here's my 18 week video, you can see how big my belly is getting! I also mention some ideas for my birth plan :)
