7 Months!
My darling babies are blossoming quite nicely! Now they eat lots of real food, drink from sippy cups, are getting better at sitting, love to practice standing, roll around to get from place to place, and will be crawling any day now. The very best part of twins is that they have built in playmates. I'll be doing something in the kitchen and will suddenly hear bouts of laughter coming from the nursery. I love love love it!
It has been a lot of fun introducing new foods now that they eat better. Some of our favorite dishes include the folowing:
* cooked and mashed apples and sweet potato with rice
* oatmeal with mashed banana, milk, and cinnamon
* mashed avocado and mashed banana
* sweet potato mixed with rice, milk, and cinnamon
* pureed cantaloupe mixed with rice (yeah, sounds weird to me too but it was a huge hit)
Probably within the next week or so we'll start trying chicken and yogurt! I still make all their food from scratch. It's nice getting all my produce from bountiful baskets because there's always lots of fruits and veggies that are good for the babies.
We still do cloth diapers most of the time when they're at home, and I am super glad that we put the effort into using them. But as the babies are getting more mobile, the cheap pocket diapers are becoming a huge pain. They seem to leak like, 30 percent of the time, and we can't even use onsies with them since the fabric around the legs wicks up the moisture. I'm thinking about throwing in the towel with these, but John wants to keep at it. I only spent $135 for a set of 26, so overall it has saved us money, but I guess I'll try double stuffing them and see if I can get them to work a little better. The bum-genius all in ones we have work really well, but we only have 6 and they are expensive and I'm not really planning on buying any more.
The babies have pretty much outgrown their car-seats so I'll be buying the next kind that just stay in the car. That means we'll need 4 total, 2 for my car and 2 for Johns. This is the worst part of twins, is having to buy double sets of everything! So I'll by buying four of the lest expensive car seats that will do the job.
John and I have been doing great ourselves. We even got a mini staycation when the babies had a slumber party and their grandparents house! We had lots of fun shopping and dining out and just having a break. Also, I really like my new job so far. I like my new boss a lot, I like my new co workers, and I like the work itself. The drive is a little more than what I'm used to, but my energy efficient license plate on my Prius allows me to take the HOV lane, so it only takes about 20-30 minutes with traffic which is nothing to complain about.
And now here's a few photos and a video clip!
