Babies don't keep!

I think things have been getting a little easier around here. Their sleeping at night seems to be improving. We put them down around 7 or 8, do a "dream feed" around 11 or 12, and then they sleep till between 5 and 6 the next morning. They are also more easily entertained by toys and things. They sometimes even just look at their own hand for awhile! It's pretty funny. They will smile at me when I smile at them, it's so cute. Can't wait for them to start laughing!

They still have their digestion issues though. I talked to other parents and it seems tummy problems are pretty normal and it should get drastically better around 6 months.

Good news on the pumping front, I haven't had to give any supplemental formula in 3 days now! I worry it's because the babies are not drinking enough though. I now pump about 45oz per day, and have a little left over at the end of the day. So I estimate they must be consuming around 20oz. I wish they were doing 25oz per day, but I did a little research and it seems 20 is fine and all babies are different. I know they'll start drinking more when they're ready.

Sometimes, I just wish I could take a nap, watch an episode of Mad Men, do the pile of dishes in the sink or just eat a meal in peace. But it always seems just when I think the coast is clear, one of the babies starts crying and needs something. While it can be very frustrating, I try to remember that someday very soon these babies will be too big to cradle in my arms, or rock on my lap. I try to think of it as an opportunity that will one day be lost forever. Mad Men will always be there and I can sleep when I'm dead. As the poem goes "...quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep, I'm rocking my babies, and babies don't keep." Now that I'll be going back to work (starting TOMORROW) my time with them will be even more precious.
