5 months already??

My babies are now over 5 months old! Time is just flying by so fast! It's hard to believe they came home from the hospital as 5 pound babies. They've at least tripped that now! I keep having to go up in clothes sizes. We jumped up to the 6mo clothes, but I fear those may not last long!

They are doing so great. Zoe has been practicing rolling a lot. She has mastered a 3/4 roll from back to belly, where her hips are completely turned but her shoulders aren't quite there. Valentina likes to roll from side to side, but hasn't made it to her belly yet. 

They are looking and smiling at each other a lot more now, it's SO cute. Yesterday Valentina kept giggling at Zoe for some unknown reason, it was so funny. The girls love when we sit them up, they get annoyed if they are reclined for too long. I think they just love being upright. We did not get them bumbo seats because we just don't have the space and I've read that babies outgrow them super fast anyway. I wonder if it was a mistake to skip those since babies love sitting up so much but still can't do it on their own very well.

We have not mastered eating solid food yet. Zoe has taken to rice cereal a little better than val, but overall we have not been very successful yet. I made apple puree for them by steaming peeled/cored apples and pureeing with my immersion blender, but they did not like it. The apples were a little tart, so maybe that's why. I was just using what I got from Bountiful Baskets that week. This week I think we'll try bananas! They are nice and sweet, so maybe the babies will like them.

We got to spend time will lots of family over 4th of July weekend. We did some fireworks for the babies but they did not appreciate any loud bangs or popping noises at all! After bursting in tears after a loud firecracker, we decided babies are not ready for them yet.

John and I are talking more and more about getting a bigger place. We're very wary of increasing our housing payment though, we don't want to stretch our budget or anything. It's really nice being able to live on a singe income if necessary. But I think we can afford a bigger place in a nicer neighborhood, and I don't think it will be a stretch for us. It may not be a fantastically awesome house or anything, but it will be an improvement, which is all I'm looking for. I think we'll start our house search in a few months, I'd like to get a little more of a down payment put together first.
