Maternity Stitch Fix Review!
This post will be 100% about the Stitch Fix I received this week. Stitch fix is a really interesting and cool service. You should totally look into it yourself, but pretty much you answer a big survey about your clothing style and then a personal stylist will send you five items that should suit you. Once your fix has arrived to your door, you try everything on and decide what you want to keep and what to send back. Then you pay for the stuff you keep. If you buy ALL 5 items, you get a 25% off discount.
The thing about Stitch Fix is that it's really not for people who are picky about their style. You need to be willing to have an open mind and trust that your stylist knows how to keep you on trend.
The benefits for this service is that you don't need to leave the house to go shopping (which is nice when you're a mom), your stylist will select things that are trendy, and you might discover awesome items that you would not have thought to pick for yourself.
SO! I told my stylist a few hints when scheduling my Stitch Fix:
1. I'm pregnant
2. I need maternity swimwear
3. I will likely buy the entire box if she keeps it under $200
4. It would be nice to get some flowy tops that are not specifically "maternity" so I can wear after pregnancy.
This is what I got!
Item 1: gold leaf drop earrings - $28.00
These are beautiful, I like them! But to me not worth nearly $30. So the rest of the box had better be good!
Item 2. coral maternity skinny jeans - $78.00
I almost never buy skinny jeans, I feel like I don't know how to pair them, but these are awesome and I need more maternity pants!
Item 3. blue maxi skirt - $58.00
I usually stay away from maxi skirts because I feel so frumpy in them, but I loved this when paired with the camis. And I should be able to wear this to work if I pair with a light blazer or something.
Item 4. off white crochet top - $68.00
I'm a sucker for beautiful tops like this, and it's not a maternity specific thing!
Item 5. 3 pack of maternity camis - $44.00
These are so desperately needed in my maternity wardrobe
And here I am modeling the items! I did not have a photographer on hand, so I resorted to selfies.
My stylist suggested wearing the maxi skirt with one of the tanks. I think either the black or white one look great with it, and the outfit is begging to be completed with strappy sandals and a lightweight summer scarf. The white is a bit transparent, so a scarf would help with that issue too. This outfit is so freakin comfortable!
Here's the skinny jeans! I think the fit is right and the color is funky and fun. I could see these going with oversize tops and heals or ballet flats.
My stylist suggested the beautiful white top with the coral, and I think it's a really cute match! I love this outfit for my upcoming getaways, or for my upcoming Tuesdays ;)
All items by themselves seem perhaps overly expensive. I mean, I'm sure they are high quality brands, but I would probably not spend so much on stuff like this in a store. However, with Stitch Fix I don't usually think too much about each individual item, I look at the entire package as a whole, and with the 25% off discount it comes to $187.00. So the question is, do I pay $187 for all this stuff? Will I be wearing these items enough to justify the cost? To me, the answer was a resounding 'yes'! I imagine wearing this stuff almost every day of the loooong summer ahead. Plus I'll be going on a few trips during the pregnancy and these new clothes will be perfect!
In conclusion, my maternity Stitch Fix was great. My stylist did a great job! Three of the items are not maternity specific, so I can wear them even when I'm not pregnant and not feel weird about it. The one bad thing was no swimwear. I guess I'm on my own for that!
