One Month Old!
Holy cow that went by fast! I can't believe it has been a month since I gave birth to these girlies. Not too much has changed since my last post. The babies seem to be a little more awake now. Whenever they are alert I try to do stuff with them like "tummy time" or read a story or just walk around with them so they can look at stuff.
We finally got a swing! We decided to start with one and if we feel the need for a second we'll get it. They seem to like it so far!
The sleep situation remains the same. They have their milk every three hours. I think if they increased the volume they drink per "meal"they would be able to go longer in between. I would really like to go from 8 "meals" to 7, and try to space out the nighttime ones a little. Maybe in the next month or so.
I would really like to get a baby carrier or sling or something to do some baby wearing, but the babies are still too small. Looks like the minimum weight is 8 lbs, so I think it may be awhile yet. At 8 lbs I should also be able to start using the fancy types of cloth diapers, like the all-in-ones and pocket types. The preemie prefolds/covers have not worked out very well so far. The diapers are so small and get completely saturated fairly quickly. That's why the covers were leaking around the tag. Also, after a few days, the babies got diaper rash. So, for now, we're using "sposies" (disposables). I hate buying them every time we go to the store. I think we'll try cloth again once the babies are ready for the next size up.
I'm looking forward to them getting bigger and more alert so we can do more fun things, and yet it's weird and a little sad knowing they will never be this small ever again. Yesterday John said musingly "someday we'll wonder what happened to our babies" and it made me cry!
| Close up of my Valentina. She still has some red spots on her fave from birth. I think the nurse called them "stork bites" or something. |
