Twin Pregnancy - Week 29
Holy cow I’m 29 weeks pregnant! Things are mostly
uneventful. I failed to update my blog last week because I was feeling kinda
bad. I mean, I was not feeling well due to a cold, and I just wasn’t feeling
like my groovy self. I’m feeling better now though :)
So, during week 28 I had my glucose tolerance test. I didn’t
get to pick what flavor I wanted or anything, they just gave me the orange
drink. It was not horrible. While waiting for the hour to be up, I got my belly
measured (I was the size of a 36 week pregnant woman with a singleton). Also,
my doctor explained to me that if I begin to approach the 38-40 week mark, I
will not be induced simply because the babies would be getting quite large at
that point. I will be induced whenever my Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist
determines a potential issue with one of the babies (such as low amniotic fluid
or something). Of course, it’s very possible I will go into labor naturally as
well. I think I would rather let labor happen naturally than be induced, as
long as the babies are ready!
Anyway, a couple day later the doctor’s office called, but
since I left my phone at home that day I didn’t realize they called till later
that night. They left a message asking me to call back. They only call when
there’s an issue with the test, so I was quite concerned that I had gestational
diabetes or something! When I called back, I found out that I just have “slight
anemia” and I just need to take some iron supplements. Glad it wasn't something more serious!
We also had another ultrasound on Monday. Baby A is
estimated to weigh about 2.5lbs and Baby B is an estimated 3lbs! Even though
there is a half pound difference between the little darlings, the doctor says it’s
nothing to worry about, and she is pleased with their development.
So far, there has been no need for me to go on bed rest or
anything like that, which is majorly awesome. Also, babies are both heads down
(and have been for months), so if they can stay like that it looks like I will
not need a cesarean! Keeping my fingers crossed!
